Washington: Former U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the introduction of a “Gold Card” for wealthy individuals seeking U.S. citizenship.
In a surprising move, Trump, who has previously focused on reducing immigration, is now offering a new scheme for affluent foreigners to invest and live in the U.S.
The “Gold Card” initiative aims to attract high-net-worth individuals willing to invest $5 million in the country. Trump likened the programme to a green card but emphasised that it would bring in people who contribute to the economy by creating jobs for American citizens.
According to U.S. media reports, the sale of the Gold Card will commence within the next two weeks, with all legal requirements already completed.
