London: For the first time in its 1,000-year history, the State Apartments of Windsor Castle echoed with the call to prayer (Adhan) during Iftar, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere.
According to British media, St George’s Hall, typically reserved for royal banquets and state events, hosted over 350 Muslims for a historic Iftar gathering in honour of Ramadan. As the Adhan resonated through the grand hall, attendees broke their fast by eating dates, following the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The hall was prepared with carpets and white sheets, where various traditional foods and drinks were served.
Simon Meapes, Director of Visitor Operations at Windsor Castle, stated that the British monarchy has long supported religious diversity and interfaith harmony.
This historic Iftar was organized in collaboration with a charitable organization to promote unity and coexistence. The event symbolized a significant step toward interfaith harmony and strengthened the bond between different communities in the UK.
