Mohsin Naqvi urges enhanced vigilance at airports to combat drug smuggling

In order to combat drug smuggling, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has instructed officials to increase airport security.

In Lahore, the minister met with representatives of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF). Director Intelligence Colonel Kamran, Director Enforcement Brigadier Imran, Regional Director ANF Brigadier Sikandar Hayat, and DG ANF Major General Abdul Maeed attended the meeting.

Important decisions to stop the sale and purchase of narcotics were reached at the conference.

Naqvi praised the DG ANF and his team’s efforts in the continuing campaign to combat drug sales in the nation’s educational institutions.

He underlined that people who sell drugs, especially ice, at educational institutions should continue to face harsh punishment.

Naqvi said that those engaged in drug trafficking throughout border areas should be targeted indiscriminately with drones.

By exchanging their luggage tags at the airport, he also praised ANF’s efforts to free an innocent family who had been kidnapped by a global drug gang.

Five members of the innocent family who had been jailed in Saudi Arabia were able to return thanks to the ANF’s efforts.

The Interior Minister praised the family on their release and safe return home while visiting their Lahore house.

He said that the ANF team apprehended the actual criminals after working day and night to find the global gang.
