Maulana Fazlur Rehman engaged in discussions with senior Hamas leaders in Qatar to address the current situation in Gaza and Palestine, emphasizing support for Palestinians and denouncing Israel’s occupation of their lands.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman was accompanied by senior JUI-F leaders Maulana Rashid Mahmood Soomro and Mufti Abrar Ahmed Khan. The Hamas delegation was led by Abu Umer, head of the Palestinian Parliament.
During the discussions, Fazlur Rehman reiterated that Palestine is an independent state and emphasised that Israel’s occupation has no justification under international law. He also expressed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, calling it the collective responsibility of the Muslim world to work towards the liberation of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestinian lands.
The Hamas leadership thanked the JUI-F chief for his support and solidarity, acknowledging the significance of Pakistan’s stance on the issue.
The meeting comes at a time of heightened tensions in the region, with the humanitarian situation in Gaza worsening due to continued conflict. Palestinian leaders have been reaching out to political and religious figures worldwide to rally support for their cause.
