The Jaffar Express, travelling from Quetta to Peshawar, came under heavy gunfire between Gudalor and Piru Kanri, leaving the train’s driver and several passengers seriously injured.
Authorities have declared an emergency at Sibi Hospital, and ambulances have been dispatched to the scene. Rescue officials reported difficulties in transporting the injured due to the area’s mountainous and rough terrain.
The Pakistan Railways department has also deployed a relief train to the location to assist in the rescue operation.
According to Levies officials, armed attackers opened fire on the train near Tunnel No. 8 in Piru Kanri, within the Sibi and Bolan region. The assault left at least three passengers, including the driver, wounded.
Security forces have been sent to the site to secure the area and investigate the incident. Meanwhile, emergency measures have been implemented at civil hospitals in Sibi and Dhadar.
Further details on the attackers and their motives are yet to be confirmed.
