ATC extends remand of accused in Mustafa Amir murder case –

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Karachi has extended the physical remand of Armaghan and Shiraz for five more days in connection with the Mustafa Amir murder case.

During the hearing, the investigating officer requested a 14-day remand, citing the need to record statements from two employees of Armaghan under Section 164. Additionally, forensic analysis of weapons and a laptop recovered from Armaghan’s residence is still pending.

During the proceedings, Armaghan collapsed in the courtroom, prompting court staff to assist him. He later broke down in tears, followed by his father, who also became emotional. The prosecutor general, however, informed the court that Armaghan had similarly collapsed in previous hearings, but medical examinations confirmed he was fit. Armaghan, however, alleged that he was not being provided food in custody.

Meanwhile, Armaghan’s mother submitted a power of attorney through lawyer Tahir Rehman Tanoli, but Armaghan denied his legal representation, claiming he was misled into signing documents.

Shiraz’s lawyer argued that his client had no connection to the case, stating that police raided his house without female officers and confiscated his sister’s laptop. He further claimed that Shiraz was not allowed to sign documents for legal representation.

The court ordered a medical examination for Shiraz but denied his sister’s request to meet him.
