Islamabad: Despite multiple rigorous vaccination campaigns, polio remains a persistent challenge in Pakistan, with two new cases surfacing, bringing the total number of cases to five in 2025.
The latest cases have been reported from Mandi Bahauddin in Punjab and District Qambar in Sindh, raising concerns among health authorities striving to eradicate the disease.
Polio continues to cripple children worldwide, but Pakistan and Afghanistan remain the only two countries where the virus is still prevalent.
Earlier this year, cases were reported from Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Larkana in Sindh, while Punjab has now recorded its first case of 2025.
