ISLAMABAD: Renowned Pakistani architect Yasmeen Lari has declined the 2025 Wolf Prize in Architecture, valued at Rs 2.79 crore, in protest against the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The Wolf Prize, awarded in Israel since 1978, honours excellence in fields such as architecture, science, and the arts. However, Lari, known for her eco-friendly and humanitarian efforts, stated that rejecting the award was “the very least I could do.”
As the founder of the Heritage Foundation of Pakistan, Lari has made significant contributions to sustainable construction, helping build 50,000 self-sufficient shelters and 80,000 smokeless cooking stoves for marginalized communities.
