Pakistan committed to minority rights, says Defence Minister Khawaja Asif –

SIALKOT – Defence Minister Khawaja Asif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of minorities, stating that the constitution guarantees their protection. Speaking at a ceremony in Sialkot on Sunday, he emphasized that the government is taking concrete steps to ensure equal rights for all citizens, regardless of religion or creed.

 

He highlighted that a nation’s strength lies in its tolerance and the fair treatment of its minority communities. Asif praised Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for implementing significant measures to support minorities, particularly through the Minority Card scheme, which aims to provide financial relief and social security.

The minister stressed the importance of interfaith harmony for national unity, stability, and the creation of a peaceful society. He called for greater integration to strengthen Pakistan’s social fabric and ensure a progressive future.

Earlier in the event, Punjab Minority Affairs Minister Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora outlined various initiatives taken by the Punjab government to protect and uplift minority communities, reinforcing the state’s dedication to fostering religious coexistence.
