Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has reaffirmed her commitment to achieving the target of constructing 500,000 homes within the next five years.
Chairing a special meeting, the chief minister reviewed progress on the three-marla free plot scheme. The meeting included a detailed briefing by the Director General of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) regarding ongoing housing initiatives.
Maryam Nawaz also evaluated the provision of loans to individuals receiving free plots, aiming to support them in building their own homes. She directed authorities to restore PHATA’s 23 housing schemes across 19 districts and instructed the release of necessary funds for these projects.
Officials informed the meeting that beneficiaries of the Apni Chat Apna Ghar program have begun repaying their loans, with a remarkable 100% repayment rate. Currently, 9,661 homes are under construction under this initiative.
Expressing her satisfaction, the chief minister said she feels immense happiness seeing people fulfil their dream of owning a home through the Apni Chat Apna Ghar program.
