Travellers heading to Saudi Arabia are facing challenges at airports due to new regulations enforced by the Saudi government. According to a statement from the spokesperson of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Saudi authorities have made polio vaccination mandatory for all passengers travelling to the kingdom.
The polio vaccination must be administered at least four weeks prior to travelling to Saudi Arabia but should not be older than six months. This requirement applies to all travellers, whether they are travelling on Umrah, tourist, or residence visas.
For passengers with a layover of less than 12 hours at any Saudi airport, the vaccination is not necessary.
The spokesperson emphasised that travellers must ensure their vaccination certificates are officially stamped by either a government or private hospital. It is crucial for all passengers to carry their polio vaccination certificates when arriving at the airport, as travelling to Saudi Arabia without the certificate will not be permitted.
